The Greek Tax Authority (AADE) published an updated version 1.0.9 of the technical specifications for the myDATA e-accounting system in July 2024.

  • Mandatory Real-Time Data Transmission: Starting January 1, 2024, businesses must transmit data and documents in real-time through business management programs (ERPs).

  • QR Code Generation: Businesses can generate a QR code from accounting data, providing a summary of transmitted documents. This QR code links to a digital service on the myDATA platform.

  • Extended Adjustment Period: The adjustment period for businesses using e-invoicing service providers to comply with myDATA has been extended by six months.

  • Electronic Books Implementation: Greece has fully implemented electronic books (myDATA) reporting requirements for VAT and income tax as of January 1, 2024.

  • New QR Code Requirement: A new QR code requirement for receipts issued by cash registers and POS terminals has been introduced.

  • Mandatory Interconnection: The mandatory interconnection of tax mechanisms (cash registers, POS, etc.) with AADE for real-time sales data transmission to myDATA was gradually implemented by November 2021.

In summary, the updated myDATA technical specifications in July 2024 emphasize real-time data transmission, the introduction of QR codes for documents and receipts, and the finalization of mandatory interconnection of tax systems with AADE to support Greece's new e-accounting framework.
