What is Überbrückungshilfe III?

 

Überbrückungshilfe III aims to support companies, self-employed persons, restaurants and cafés, and freelancers who are particularly affected by the measures to combat the pandemic. Überbrückungshilfe III is a non-repayable grant and aid from the government.

Who can apply for the Überbrückungshilfe?

 

Companies, self-employed and freelancers with an annual turnover of up to 750 million euros in 2020, as well as start-ups, non-profit companies, church-based companies and organisations from all sectors founded by 31 October 2020. The maximum turnover of 750 million euros does not apply to companies directly affected by closure orders based on a federal state decision, as well as to companies in the wholesale and travel sectors.

 

The prerequisite is a decline in corona-related sales of at least 30 per cent every month in the period from November 2020 to June 2021, when the fixed-cost subsidy was requested. The reference month 2019 is decisive for comparison. For companies founded between 1 January 2019 and 31 October 2020 (previously 30 April 2020) and justified in exceptional operational situations, special regulations apply. Companies receiving November and/or December benefits are not eligible for these months.

Example 1: A restaurant is closed, sales loss is over 70 per cent despite out-of-home sales. 100 per cent of the monthly reimbursable fixed costs of EUR 10,000 will be reimbursed. If in June and July 2020 the company spent 20,000 euros on structural hygiene measures - these expenses will also be reimbursed 100 per cent.
