ANAF Intensifies E-Transport Inspections

Romania’s National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF) is strengthening controls on RO e-Transport compliance to combat tax evasion and unauthorized goods transportation. 

March 4, 2025: 4,589 vehicles inspected, 1.95M+ lei in fines Key violations detected:

• 2 tons of undeclared dried tobacco (1.24M+ lei excise duty) 

• Unregistered Chinese-origin goods 

• Gasoline transport without proper documentation

February 2025 Highlights: 9,766 vehicles checked (3.73% of international traffic) 2.96M+ lei in penalties 25M+ lei in additional taxes assessed Seizure of undeclared non-EU textiles & footwear 

ANAF’s 24/7 enforcement shows that E-Transport compliance is no longer optional. Companies engaged in cross-border trade must ensure full alignment with regulations to avoid heavy penalties.
