What is PEPPOL?

PEPPOL (= Pan-European Public Procurement OnLine) is an EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) protocol developed on behalf of the European Commission to make the awarding of public procurement across Europe more transparent and to simplify the process. It offers a standard for the transmission of electronic orders and invoices since 2012. It ensures internationally active organizations to make their communication in a standard and electronic way throughout their procurement processes, regardless of whether they are a government institution or a private company. Data can be changed by accessing the OpenPEPPOL network through access points.

  • The PEPPOL network works like a communication network with data flow. Companies can send messages called UBL bills with security priority over the PEPPOL network.

  • Companies can be identified automatically thanks to the PEPPOL-ID. PEPPOL-ID is a unique number, which consists of Registration number and Tax ID. It functions like a phone number.

  • PEPPOL is not limited to e-invoicing, it covers the entire electronic procurement process. Thanks to Peppol, you can connect and interact with all PEPPOL members in the network and exchange data with government institutions and private companies in a fast, secure and standardized way. In short, PEPPOL simplifies business processes and lower the costs.
